I am once again excited to be able to share/announce another creative minded workshop that I will be hosting on 4/25/2015 at the WeWork location in Dupont Circle!
We’d love to have you join us for a day of creative writing and art practice! What does creative writing & art practice have to do with your startup, non-prof, or tech company you may ask… well a lot actually. Creative art practice isn’t just for artists, is for everyone who is needing to find a creative solution to a road block that you may be facing when envisioning the next steps for your company/business!
And this workshop can do just that by helping you to creatively focus your energy, whether you’re trying to figure out a financial problem, or a conflict, or a business plan — creative writing and art play can help to get your brain moving and push you into different directions and come up with creative solutions that you might not have otherwise. Plus, it’s also a just a lot of fun! When was the last time you allowed yourself to think beyond the box, to color outside the lines, to envision something so crazy and outlandish, that is just might work?!
What’s included: 20 minute environmental mini session with Sarah Hodzic – Up to two outfit changes – Online proofing gallery – 2 high & low resolution digital files of your choice, delivered via Dropbox

On the fence about whether or not you want to add professional hair and makeup services to your head shot session, click hereto see before and after photos of my clients with and without professional makeup. As they say, “a picture speaks a thousand words”!
People are talkin’ … “I have hired Sarah Hodzic to photograph several family events, and I most recently hired her for a series of professional head shots. She is an artist, first and foremost, and she delivers beautiful images every, single time. My family now requests Sarah by name, and inviting her to events feels like inviting a member of our family. The head shot she recently captured of me is breath-taking. I have never looked at a photograph of myself and thought “I look beautiful.” Sarah gave me the photograph that changed my mind, and I will be forever thankful. Sarah Hodzic is our family’s photographer for life!”
Matt and Sarah!!!! How many ways can I say I love these guys…. well, almost too many, so I won’t take up pages and pages with that! But trust me, Matt and Sarah are two people you want to know. And on top of their ultra awesomeness, they made one adorable and hilarious tiny human: Mason! With his coy smile and contagious giggling, Mason had me in stitches! Getting to photograph Sarah and Matt’s Bluemont vineyard wedding in 2008 was the highlight of my (at that time) budding photography career. So once again, getting this opportunity to hang out with them now as a family, well, it was just pure joy for me!
Thank you Sarah and Matt for bringing Mason into the world, and to my mini sessions. He is one cool kid!
Oh these two! I loved getting the opportunity to see my past wedding clients Mike and Christina during my mini session this October. Mike, an H-B Woodlawn alumnus (whoop whoop) planned this shoot as an anniversary gift for Christina. And of course I took our time together as an opportunity to pump Christina about her experiences selling her AMAZING handcrafted woodworking creations at shows around the NOVA/DC area. Christina’s creativity with wood is truly fantastic! If you find yourself in the market for handmade local workworking gift for your special someone, you NEED to check out her etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/cgurnham.
It was so awesome to see you guys, and I know that the many exciting adventures you have ahead of you will be truly phenomenal! Thank you for being a part of my mini session this year!
This year I was excited to offer fall mini portrait sessions. This gave me the great opportunity to see some of my past wedding clients, like Amanda and Jeff. Clearly since Amanda and Jeff’s winter wedding in Old Town Alexandria, they’ve had a few life changing events, namely this adorable little one! I was so excited and happy to meet Bryce and see how incredibly happy my clients are. The mini sessions were such a success this year that I can’t wait to offer them again next year!
Thank you Jeff, Amanda, Bryce and Charlotte for being one of my first families for my inaugural mini sessions!
I had the pleasure of meeting Alyse, Greg and puppy Mason in Old Town Alexandria this past week. Alyse and Greg are getting married in Michigan on July 12th! It might have been one of DC’s notoriously hot and humid days, but we still managed to have a grand ole time down on the water front! Alyse had warned me about Mason’s charm and awe inspiring stature, as great Danes usually do attract attention. Boy was she right to give me the heads up–just about everyone stopped and stared, made very audible comments and were just dumbfounded at his beauty and size! Mason almost did steal the show, but Greg and Alyse are just so darn good lookin’ we definitely got us some fantabulous images!
Another great photo session at Glen Echo Park in Maryland this past Memorial Day weekend, with yet another H-B Woodlawn Alum! Not only is she an H-B girl, Laura also graduated with me in ’94. Woot! It was beyond fun to see Laura and to meet Jason and the boys. Reconnecting with Laura and seeing her family made me quickly realize… we really are all grown up… it’s a fact. Laura and Jason are doing a tremendous job raising their boys, which I imagine ain’t an easy feat! We had a blast exploring Glen Echo together, and boy did we time it perfectly. No crowds, the weather was great, and we wrapped up just as the Glen Echo Festival was beginning!
I feel so honored to have had yet another chance to document another member of my H-B family, and to reconnect now that we have 20 years of post-high school life in our past. I am who I am now because of H-B Woodlawn. I know I say that often, but the love, admiration, and respect I feel for that place and all of the truly extraordinary people who are products of the H-B Woodlawn program are tremendous! Thank you Hollis family for making time for photos on your visit back “home.” The pure glee on the boys’ faces during bubble time made my day!
I have the great honor of blogging ANOTHER H-B Woodlawn alumni wedding, this time my first with a classmate who graduated with me in ’94! Woot! We were a graduating class of 62 seniors, and seeing some of my classmates after 20 years (yes, 20!), has been beyond amazing… everyone looks THE SAME! H-B’ers age well it seems; not only that, they have also put together some really FUN weddings! Ann and Jason’s story of how they got to the altar is full of life’s many challenges, including brain surgery and beating cancer, so it truly was an honor for me to be able to be there for a classmate and document this very monumental occasion.
Thank you Ann and Jason for having me be the one to come and create images that captured the meaningfulness of this day.
And some rousing toasts were made, with tears, laughter and some very wise words.
A very big congratulations to Jason & Ann! May your marriage be full of deliciously fun and meaningful adventures!
A very big congratulations to Ann & Jason on their marriage this past weekend at The Osprey’s at Belmont Bay in Woodbridge, VA. It was amazing to see Ann after 20 years. We graduated the same year from HB Woodlawn, so it was pretty surreal and fantastic to be a part of this celebration. Here we have a little sneak peek of a few portraits of the happy couple. Keep your eyes peeled for more on the blog from Ann & Jason’s wedding day!
What fun getting to experience Glen Echo Park with children who haven’t been there before! That was the case this past weekend with Maya and Fin! I spent so much of my childhood at Glen Echo (not to mention most of my 20’s too), so coming back here to photograph weddings, family, and the like is always so joyful! It really is an ideal place for taking portraits of kids. Not only are there plenty of places for them to explore and run free, the back drop is so colorful and easy to photograph! We had a blast climbing, running, spinning and jumping on, off, and around the entire historic grounds of Glen Echo.
Maya and Fin were adorable, and had a whole host of ideas for posing which I LOVE. Not to mention, Maya had some seriously fantastic fashion accessories she wanted to make sure to document. What great kids! They just made my day!
